Immortals (super strong line through floats)

Hillbilly Immortals

After much research and field testing the new range Hillbilly Immortals are now on the market manufactured from the new Tech4 Foam. This is an extraordinary hi tech foam which I use for the Immortals line through range. It has a small closed cell structure and is specially manufactured for use in situations where the foam needs to withstand high surface load pressures. It is so tough that it is difficult to machine without special tooling and I almost decided not to use it because of this problem. However I persevered because its excellent strength and buoyancy properties made it ideal for the Immortals range and it may in the future take over from my Tech3 foam on some other models.

HB Immortals IRIS.

The Iris is a super strong line through paste float designed to take everything that fishing for large bags of big carp using lines to 0.25 diameter and very strong elastics can throw at it. The high pressure rated Tech4 foam used for the floats oval shaped body offers amazing buoyancy for such a tough material. The bore of each body is lined with a specially manufactured lightweight yet strong plastic tube to prevent line damage whilst retaining the maximum possible buoyancy for its size. The flexible 0.9 diameter glass stem runs right through to the top end of the specially manufactured 65mm long x 1.7mm diameter Hi Viz tip which makes the Iris almost unbreakable in even the most extreme fishing situations. The extra long tips of these floats make fishing on an uneven bottom with paste much easier. The base end of the hollow tip is cut on an angle to prevent the line being damaged where it exits the body and the body being pushed away from the tip when the line is under the tension created by a hooked fish. Available in three sizes 0.2, 0.35, 0.5 with a choice of red or yellow tips

Setting up your Iris. First thread the body onto the rig line so that the HB logo is at the base of the float. Then insert the stem from the top and fit the supplied piece of rubber to the stem. Next slide up the rubber to hold the body in place under the tip, DO NOT THREAD THE RIG LINE THROUGH THIS RUBBER or it will grip the line and try to bend the float stem when the line returns to normal having been stretched by a hooked fish. Then add two more pieces of float rubber to the line and fit them to the bottom portion of the stem. Check that the line exits the top of the float body via the cut out area on the floats tip as this will avoid line damage and stop the body being pushed away from the tip when the line is under tension.

HB Top Tip. Best used with a simple close spread bulk shotting pattern starting around two feet above the hook with plenty of tip showing. This allows easier distinction between proper bites and line bites

HB Immortals ZEUS

The Zeus is a super strong line through diamond shaped float designed to take everything that open water fishing for large bags of big carp using lines to 0.25 diameter and very strong elastics can throw at it. Its body makes full use of the classic diamond shape with no corner rounding needed to prevent line damage. The high pressure rated Tech4 foam used for the floats body offers amazing buoyancy for such a tough material. The bore of each body is lined with a specially manufactured lightweight yet strong plastic tube to prevent line damage whilst retaining the maximum possible buoyancy for its size. The flexible 0.9 diameter glass stem runs right through to the top end of the 2mm diameter Hi Viz tip which makes the Zeus almost unbreakable in even the most extreme fishing situations. The base end of the hollow tip is cut on an angle to prevent the line being damaged where it exits the body and the body being pushed away from the tip when the line is under the tension created by a hooked fish. Available in four sizes 0.2, 0.35, 0.5, 0.75 with a choice of red or yellow tips.

Setting up your Zeus.

HB Top Tip. Best used with a simple bulk and two dropper shotting pattern with plenty of tip showing when fishing big baits. This allows easier distinction between proper bites and line bites. Can of course also be fished "dotted down" when required.

HB Immortals ZINKY.

HB Immortals ZINKY. The Zinky (great grandad of Zeus) is a super strong line through margin float designed to take everything that fishing for large bags of big carp using lines to 0.25 diameter and very strong elastics can throw at it. The flexible 0.9 diameter glass stem runs right through to the top end of the 2mm diameter Hi Viz tip which makes the Zinky almost unbreakable in even the most extreme fishing situations. The base end of the hollow tip is cut on an angle to prevent the line being damaged where it exits the body and the body being pushed away from the tip when the line is under the tension created by a hooked fish. Available in three sizes 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 with a choice of red or yellow tips.

Setting up your Zinky.

HB Top Tip. Best used with a simple bulk shotting pattern with plenty of tip showing when fishing big baits. This allows easier distinction between proper bites and line bites. Can also be fished "dotted down" if required.

I have now got visions of people reading through Greek Mythology to check the credentials of this Zinky fellow.

HB Immortals ARES.

The Ares (son of Zeus) is a super strong line through mini diamond shaped float designed to take everything that fishing for large bags of big carp using lines to 0.25 diameter and very strong elastics can throw at it. Its tiny body makes full use of the classic diamond shape with no corner rounding needed to prevent line damage making it perfect for heavy duty shallow and "rat hole" fishing. The high pressure rated Tech4 foam used for the floats body offers amazing buoyancy for such a tough material. The bore of each body is lined with a specially manufactured lightweight yet strong plastic tube to prevent line damage whilst retaining the maximum possible buoyancy for its size. The flexible 0.9 diameter glass stem runs right through to the top end of the 2mm diameter Hi Viz tip which makes the Ares almost unbreakable in even the most extreme fishing situations. The base end of the hollow tip is cut on an angle to prevent the line being damaged where it exits the body and the body being pushed away from the tip when the line is under the tension created by a hooked fish. Available in two sizes 3x10 stotz and 5x10 stotz with a choice of red or yellow tips.

Setting up your Ares.

HB Top Tip. Best used with a simple spread shotting pattern with plenty of tip showing when fishing big baits. This allows easier distinction between proper bites and line bites. Can of course also be fished "dotted down" when required.

Float Stems and Finish

The design concept for the Immortals range uses the central tube principle and the tube used has been specially manufactured to my HB spec to allow very strong lines of 0.20 to 0.27 diameters to be used. The range uses the tough new Tech4 high pressure rated foam for all the bodies giving excellent strength and buoyancy levels. All the tips have been specially made and the strong 0.9 diameter flexible glass stem goes right to the end of the hollow Hi Viz tip giving even more strength.
